About Tam-Jet Drainage Services
Tam-Jet Drainage Services is a local drainage specialist based in Barrhead, East Renfrewshire, serving homes and businesses across Glasgow, Paisley, Greenock, Port Glasgow, and the wider West of Scotland. We provide professional drain unblocking and high pressure water jetting for every type of blockage - from a slow-draining kitchen sink to a fully blocked shared drainage system.
We are available for call-outs day and night, including late-night and weekend attendance. Drainage emergencies rarely happen at a convenient time, so we keep our availability as broad as possible. When you call, you speak directly to us - there is no call centre, no lengthy callback queue. We aim to give you an honest assessment and an accurate arrival time straight away.
Our primary method is high pressure water jetting, which clears blockages more thoroughly than rodding and leaves the pipe walls clean, reducing the chance of the same blockage forming again quickly. For most blocked drains, it is also faster - the pressurised water cuts through grease, scale, and compacted debris in a single pass. We cover all types of residential and commercial drainage, including kitchen and bathroom drains, external gullies, shared drainage systems, and inspection chambers.
Common Questions
How quickly can you respond to a blocked drain?
For emergency call-outs we aim to arrive within 2 hours across our main service areas including Barrhead, Paisley, and Glasgow. For areas further afield such as Largs or Port Glasgow, the journey time is typically 2 to 4 hours. When you call, we will give you an honest estimate based on where we are at that point.
What is high pressure water jetting?
High pressure water jetting uses a powerful pump to force water through a flexible hose at high pressure, propelling a specialist nozzle through the drain and clearing blockages as it goes. Unlike drain rods, which can push debris further down the pipe, jetting breaks the blockage apart and flushes it away completely. It also cleans the pipe walls of grease and scale build-up, which helps prevent the blockage from forming again quickly.
Do you offer emergency call-outs at night?
Yes. We offer late-night and out-of-hours call-outs across all our service areas. Drain blockages can cause flooding and significant disruption if left overnight, so we make ourselves available in the evenings and at weekends when the need is urgent. Call 07454 499567 at any time and we will let you know our availability.
What causes blocked drains?
The most common causes are grease and food waste in kitchen drains, soap scum and hair in bathroom drains, and leaves, moss, or tree root ingress in external drains. In older properties with clay or cast iron pipework, joint gaps can allow tree roots to grow into the pipe over time. Shared drainage systems in tenements can also accumulate scale and debris from multiple households, which builds up more quickly than in a single-occupancy property.
Will water jetting damage my pipes?
High pressure water jetting is safe for all standard residential drainage pipe materials, including PVC, clay, cast iron, and pitch fibre, when used by a trained operator with the correct nozzle and pressure settings for the pipe diameter. We assess the system before we begin and use the appropriate settings for the job. If a pipe is already severely cracked or structurally compromised, we will let you know before proceeding.
Which areas do you cover?
We cover a wide area of West and Central Scotland from our base in Barrhead, including Glasgow, Paisley, Greenock, Port Glasgow, Largs, Kilmacolm, Bridge of Weir, Bishopton, Neilston, and all surrounding areas. If you are unsure whether we cover your location, call 07454 499567 and we will let you know straight away.
